Microsoft Finally Concedes that Sony Crushed them in the Last-Gen Console War!

I don’t think it really needed to be said that in regards to the last-gen console war between the PS4 and Xbox One, Sony undoubtedly gave Microsoft a bit of a terse whupping. – I mean, we all know the PS4 sold a lot more units, but with Microsoft not providing any official sales figures since 2016, it was a bit hard to know just how huge the gap had been. – That is, until now!
Following a report via The Verge, Microsoft has officially (soft of) confirmed sales figures for its last-gen of Xbox consoles and the bottom line is that Sony’s PS4 apparently outsold it by a margin in excess of 2 to 1!
Sony Crushed Microsoft in the Last-Gen Console War!
We should note that Microsoft still hasn’t gone as far as to slap down any specific sales for its Xbox One (and X and S variant) consoles. They have, however, made the following admission that their system came nowhere close to competing with the PS4 in terms of numbers:
“Sony has surpassed Microsoft in terms of console sales and installed base, having sold more than twice as many Xbox in the last generation.”
Now, although Sony no longer reports sales for its PS4 console, the last known figure was something in the region of 117.2 million. So, based upon this news, the Xbox One only managed 58.6 million sales at an absolute best with something below 50 million units clearly appearing to be far more likely given that even Microsoft admits the margin is ‘more than twice as many’.
At this point though, let’s be honest, we all knew the PS4 had won. Be honest though, did you think the margin was this big? Or did you think it might actually be even greater? – Let us know in the comments!
