Microsoft Confirms Windows 8.1 RTM Is Released To Partners

After bringing you the news yesterday that the final build of Windows 8.1 RTM was believed to be complete, Microsoft has now confirmed the official release of Windows 8.1 RTM to its hardware and software partners. Microsoft confirmed on its blog that the Windows 8.1 Release To Manufacturing (RTM) has now been released to partners and will be made available to business customers, consumers and MSDN/TechNet subscribers on October 18th, which is nearly two months time.

Windows 8.1 is expected to bring back the Start button, implement Internet Explorer 11, integrate SkyDrive more closed, have an updated Windows Store experience, DPI scaling improvements for better readability on high DPI displays, 3D printing support, more customisation options, improved mouse and keyboard navigation systems and the boot to desktop option which Microsoft have already said will become obsolete.
