Microsoft Delays Crackdown 3 Until 2018 to Improve Quality

Crackdown 3 Delayed?

Unfortunately for some, it looks like Microsoft has put the brakes on the release of Crackdown 3. The game was originally meant to hit stores on the 7th of November, but now it looks like Spring 2018 is the new release window. Of course, “spring” is a big ambiguous. However, we expect we’ll hear a more specific release date closer to that time.

What Gives?

It looks like Microsoft feels their development teams need the extra time to improve the quality of the game. If that is the case, then I’m more than happy to wait it out, I’d rather have a finished product come release day. Of course, I bet there’s still a whopping release day patch anyway, there always is.

What Microsoft had to Say

Speaking with Polygon, Microsoft cleared up a few details surrounding the delay.

“We’re very excited about Crackdown 3, and so are many fans, and so it’s a difficult call to move the release date. However, we want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time. Crackdown 3 is a hugely ambitious game and we want to ensure we deliver the right experiences all the way through every part of the game, whether that’s campaign, co-op multiplayer or our competitive multiplayer mode, Wrecking Zone. Getting the balance right between the three modes is important, and we are going to take the extra development time to ensure that. Gamers can expect Crackdown 3 in Spring of 2018.”

What Now?

The feedback on the game that Microsoft received after E3 wasn’t great. It’s likely that this feedback is what sent the team back to the drawing board. What changes we will see over these next few months remain to be seen. However, if the end product is better for it, then it’ll certainly be worth the wait. Are you looking forward to Crackdown 3?
