Microsoft originally introduced their 5th generation Surface Pro tablets several months ago. An LTE version is supposed to follow it up and originally had a December 2017 release schedule. However, it appears that Microsoft has quietly moved that release date down to Spring 2018. The news comes directly from the Microsoft Store Surface Pro product page FAQ.
The 4G LTE feature is a first for the Surface Pro line. The company also claims that it will have no visible antennas and will look indistinguishable physically from the regular 5th Generation Surface Pro. The Surface Pro uses a completely fanless design, and is available with Intel 7th gen Core m3, Core i5 and Core i7 CPU options. The memory option range remains the same from 4GB to 16GB, as well as the storage option from 128GB to 1TB.
The tablet itself will not be thicker. However, this Surface Pro will only be available with with a Core m3 and Core i5 CPU. That is most likely due to the 4G LTE modem taking up space from the heatsink necessary to cool a hotter running Intel Core i7 CPU.
Microsoft says that the Surface Pro LTE will accept Nano SIM cards, as well as new electronic SIM (eSIM) cards.
