Microsoft Dragon Simulator X Prototype Game is Even More Awesome Than it Sounds

I’m a big fan of AAA games when they’re done right, but let’s be honest, that’s few and far between these days. However, the indie scene continues to come up with great gaming experiences, and Redditor SideniuS has just shared a pretty epic video of their current prototype of Microsoft Dragon Simulator X. Now, don’t be confused by the name, as this is not a mod for Microsoft Flight Simulator, but rather just a parody project name it seems. From what we can tell, it looks like it’s made in Unreal Engine 5, as the terrain looks to be using technologies like Nanite and Lumen, but that isn’t confirmed just yet, as such, it looks absolutely gorgeous!

In the video, you can see the dragon, which itself looks pretty epic, as you’re able to soar into the sky above the clouds and dive bomb through them, sweeping over the land. On reddit, they’ve said they’ll be adding fire effects and other interactions as the intention is to turn this into a game of sorts, but for now, the prototype has shaped up rather nicely.

The dragon flying experience looks, for lack of a better word, rather realistic, with procedural animation and an aerodynamics model giving incredible motion to the wings and the way it interacts with the air.

But well, there’s only one thing to do now, so enjoy the video below! However, I think there is either no audio or the audio is broken on the video, so don’t be concerned if you can’t hear anything just yet.
