Microsoft To Launch New Surface Pro LTE

For those who want to avoid the conventional trappings of an Apple product for something a little different, yet familiar, the Microsoft Surface Pro tablets have proven to be highly popular. Admittedly that popularity hasn’t necessarily translated into good sales with more than a few rumours suggesting in recent years that Microsoft was considering abandoning the market.

It seems that they hope that the new Surface Go can be a success though. As such, following a listing on their official store website, an LTE version of the tablet will be coming this month and is available to pre-order now.

What Is LTE?

LTE stands for long-term evolution and is, essentially, a platform that allows for 4G operation. As such, compared to 3G this should have much faster internet access meaning a better experience for the user. With the release of the ‘middle of the road’ model last week, this should represent the ‘full bells and whistles’ edition.

When Is It Out?

The Surface Go LTE Edition will release on November 20th for a price of $679. Coming it at around $100 less than the iPad Pro, early indications suggest that Microsoft is having some success with this range.

  1. Well biggest advantage of new iPadPro is power. A12X chip really delivers massive performance boost over old models (not to mention good VGA to complement it). New Apple Pencil is like high performance Wacom pen. Also you get fast SSD to boot, up to 1TB! Lowest spec SurfaceGo uses 64GB eMMC for crying out loud! That’s criminal. Rest 128GB SSD only.

Also screen size (and quality) of new (or even old) iPP is vastly superior. If you want to draw then certainly iPP has a lot going for it…or has it?

SurfaceGo is vastly superior in one departament which trumps iPP entirely. On SG you get W10 and with it gain access to all major art software in the world. Corel Painter, Photoshop, GIMP, Clip Studio, Affinity Pro, anything you can think of is available. If only SurfaceGo wasn’t so crippled by specs – only 8GB RAM!, max 128GB SSD and utter rubbish Intel 615 GPU. Really???

With iPP you’re stuck with powerhouse computer running iOS crap (fine for phones and only that) which has basically nothing except so so Procreate and ridiculously expensive subscription for Clip Studio – which is not present in normal desktop versions for Win/macOS.
