Microsoft has decided to start offering refurbished variants of its Surface RT tablets on the Microsoft store for $299 with free shipping and free returns in the USA. This means American consumers can pick up the 32GB refurbished Surface RT model for $299 or the 64GB model for $349.
Microsoft claims these tablets are “Microsoft Certified Refurbished” which means:
“When you buy a refurbished Surface tablet, you’re getting a solid piece of Windows-based technology that’s been carefully examined and meticulously refurbished by our expert staff. All returned Surface tablets are tuned up and re-flashed with the latest software versions and apps, so they’re as fresh as the day they were originally built. It includes a one-year limited warranty. Supplies are limited.”
Additionally the refurbished Surface RT tablets come pre-installed with touch-enhanced versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. Microsoft also specifies how much useable storage end users can expect to get:
The 32 GB Surface RT has approximately 15 GB storage available for user content
The 64 GB Surface RT has approximately 44 GB storage available for user content
For $299 it could certainly be worth a punt if you’re getting sick of Android or iOS.
