Microsoft to Open it’s First Store in London

Microsoft Store set to open with some noisy neighbours

For many years Microsoft has been planning on opening a flagship store in the UK. With over 100 physical stores worldwide, the majority of these are located within the US. As such, the UK has good reason to feel a little neglected by the technology giant. Well, that is about to change. Microsoft has announced that a location in London has been confirmed for the launch of a UK flagship Microsoft store.

Currently, the home of a Benetton store, the location on Regent Street at Oxford Circus in London only a brief walk away from a rather noisy neighbour. Yes, London’s main Apple store is only a short walk away.

In a report via Cnet, Cindy Rose, head of Microsoft UK has said she hopes that the store will help people “explore their creativity through an ambitious program of workshops and training along with moments that work to unite the community.”

So, if you needed a bit of spare change to visit the store, you could attempt to win Microsofts $15,000 bug bounty.

What will the Microsoft shop sell?

Well, funny enough, they are being a little vague on that matter. It’s been no secret that Microsoft has been keen to have a physical store within London. If, for no other reason, than to provide a little ‘shop frontage’ against the Apple brand. However, they have not actually said what the store will sell. There is likely a good reason for that. The shop is very likely not for sale purposes.

I expect that the shop is intended to act more as a ‘shop window’ into Microsoft as a whole. Attempting to replicate a styling of Google, I believe the format the store will take will be an innovative and communicative aspect. Therefore, a trip will likely to give you a look into what the future may hold for the company. I do, however, daresay that you might be able to pick up some things off the shelf such as an Xbox One X.

The Microsoft Store (the brick one) is set to open next year.
