Microsoft Plans to Produce More Halo TV Series and Movies
Despite the recent TV series not being a huge success, it seems Microsoft still plans to continue with more TV series and movies based on the Halo franchise in the future.
On top of that, the company is already heavily involved in other similar projects based on video game series. The closest release is the Minecraft movie, scheduled to hit theaters on April 4. Following that, there will be the second season of Fallout for Prime Video, and also the announced adaptations of Gears of War.
The Future of Halo Adaptations
It looks like there will also be room for more Halo adaptations. Phil Spencer mentioned that they plan to keep producing these projects in the future. Spencer shared the intention to keep going with these trans-media projects, saying that Xbox is learning and gaining confidence in creating more.
“We learned from doing Halo. We learned from doing Fallout,” Spencer told Variety (thanks GameSpot). “So all of these build on themselves. And obviously we’ll have a couple that miss. But what I’d say to the Xbox community that likes this work is, ‘You’re going to see more, because we’re gaining confidence and we’re learning through this.'”
A Stronger Focus on Trans-media Projects
After the foundation and then the shutdown of Xbox Entertainment Studios in 2014, it seems that Xbox is now making a strong comeback in exploring the potential of multimedia adaptations of video games. As the company moves forward, fans can expect more Halo-related productions to come, while waiting for the success of the upcoming projects already in the works.
