Microsoft is increasing the prices for its Game Pass subscriptions on both PC and Xbox. This change follows the recent price hike for the Xbox Series X in several regions.
Starting August 13, the cost for PC Game Pass will rise from $9.99 to $10.99 per month. This marks the first increase since the service launched. For existing subscribers, the new price will take effect on September 13. Microsoft attributes this change to inflation and rising operational costs.
The price for the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan, which includes access to games on console, PC, and cloud, will also increase. It will go from $14.99 to $16.99 per month. Additionally, the regular Xbox Game Pass, which does not include PC games, will increase from $9.99 to $10.99 monthly.
Xbox Game Pass for Console is no longer available to new subscribers, but those already on this tier with automatic renewal enabled can continue. Microsoft has introduced a new Xbox Game Pass Standard tier. Unlike the previous tier, it does not include day-one releases but offers access to online multiplayer and a full back catalog of games. The new tier will cost $14.99 per month.
The Xbox Game Pass Core is also seeing an increase in the yearly subscription fee from $59.99 to $74.99, although the monthly fee remains unchanged except in select regions. The changes reflect the company’s adjustments to align with global economic conditions.
