How the mighty have fallen! Despite Microsoft’s browser dominance with Internet Explorer, the last 5 years have seen a pretty significant change in the market. With Google’s Chrome Browser pretty much blowing it out the water, it has forced Microsoft to look to focus on their (equally unpopular) Edge.
It seems, however, that a pretty huge issue has been identified with their IE platform. An issue so severe that Microsoft has issued an emergency patch.
In a report via CNET, it has been found that a security issue in Internet Explorer could potentially allow people to execute code on your system without your knowledge with administrator permission. This could, potentially, allow people to ‘take over’ your system or at the very least, possibly obtain details. As such, an emergency patch has been issued for Windows 10, 8.1, 7 and the Server edition.
If you haven’t checked for updates yet, you might want to! This exploit is now public knowledge!
Well, firstly there is the assumption that you use Internet Explorer. Given that the user figures are (depending on which sources you believe) only around 3%, this isn’t many people. The patch should, however, automatically download and install if you have a Windows system. Well, one that has access to the internet. Users who use the browser are, however, recommended to do a manual check.
