According to Microsoft’s Larry Hryb on Twitter the Xbox One will ship with Fifa 14 in Europe if you pre-order the console before its launch. This is Microsoft and EA’s way of trying to team up together for both their mutual benefit. EA will be hoping to shift a load more copies of Fifa 14 as a result of this promotion and Microsoft will hope that the “free” full game download of Fifa 14 with the Xbox One shifts more units in Europe.
“In Europe this Holiday: All pre-orders of #XboxOne will include a copy of FIFA 14 (while stock lasts) #Xboxgamescom.”
Microsoft is looking to draw a bit of attention away from the Xbox One delay in select European countries by offering free games and generating some positive publicity. EA Sports’ Fifa series of football/soccer games is actually one of the most successful sports games on the console and is especially popular within Europe. That said it is pretty much a guaranteed way for boosting Europe sales of the Xbox One.
Any gamers that don’t want the copy of Fifa 14 can probably just dump the code up on eBay or Amazon and sell it on to recoup some money. The game is delivered as a digital download not as a physical copy.
