Microsoft Suffers Major Data Leak With New Xbox Consoles Revealed

Xbox

Microsoft has suffered a major data leak which has provided big insights into what the company plans to release in the future including new Xbox consoles and a controller.

Microsoft Data Leak

Based on reports from theverge, Microsoft has fell victim to a data leak which involves documents shared with the FTC. These leaked documents outline a new Xbox Series X refresh console codenamed Brooklin which features a cylindrical design, won’t feature a disk drive, features 2TB of internal storage, improved power efficiency, WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 support and all at the same price of $499. On top of this Microsoft plans to launch another Series S refresh with 1TB of storage with WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 support which will all launch before the Series X in 2024 for $299.99.

Sebile New Controller

There is also a new controller that was leaked codenamed Sebile that is said to feature precision haptic feedback, VCA haptics which doubles as speakers, Accelerometer and quieter buttons. There is also a mention of modular thumbstick which seems interesting but doesn’t have much information. There is also a lift to wake function as well as a pricetag of $69.99 and an announcement in early next year.

Phil Spencer Comments

Of course, this news isn’t good for Microsoft and its employees and Phil Spencer has made a comment regarding the leaks on Twitter. Spencer says it’s difficult to see their work shared in this way but also hints that these aren’t the full plans and that Xbox has more to share when it is actually ready to be shared. A leaked internal memo to Microsoft Employees also suggests that the documents are well over a year old and the plans have evolved since.

Phil Spencer’s Memo To Employees

Team,

Today, several documents submitted in the court proceedings related to our proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard were unintentionally disclosed. I know this is disappointing, even if many of the documents are well over a year old and our plans have evolved.

I also know we all take the confidentiality of our plans and our partners’ information very seriously. This leak obviously is not us living up to that expectation. We will learn from what happened and be better going forward. We all put incredible amounts of passion and energy into our work, and this is never how we want that hard work to be shared with the community. That said, there’s so much more to be excited about, and when we’re ready, we’ll share the real plans with our players.

In closing, I appreciate all of the work that you pour into Team Xbox to surprise and delight our players. In the days and weeks ahead, let’s stay focused on what we can control: continuing the amazing success of Starfield, the upcoming launch of the incredible and accessible Forza Motorsport, and continuing to build games, services and devices that millions of players can enjoy.

Phil

This is quite a substantial leak and has given us some proper insight into Xbox’s plans over the next few years with refreshes and a new controller.
