Microsoft to Introduce Full-Screen Xbox Interface for Handheld Consoles on Windows 11
It looks like recent rumors and leaks are pointing in one direction: we will soon see handheld consoles with Windows 11 joining the Xbox ecosystem. One of these devices is expected to be the upcoming ASUS ROG Ally 2, a console still unnamed but developed in collaboration with Microsoft to integrate various Xbox services (excluding the actual games from the Microsoft console).
Xbox Interface for Gaming Consoles
In the latest Windows 11 preview, a reference has been spotted about the addition of a dedicated Xbox full-screen interface for Windows 11. This interface aims to make using Windows 11 as an operating system for gaming easier on consoles like the ASUS ROG Ally, MSI Claw, and Lenovo Legion Go. This move is seen as a response to Valve’s Big Picture Mode, which is integrated into the Steam Deck with its Steam OS.
A Competitive Move Against Valve
This is a strategic move at a time when Valve is also working on making Steam OS available for these types of consoles, as seen with the Lenovo Legion Go potentially being the first to feature Steam OS instead of Windows 11. It seems like Microsoft does not want to sit back and watch.
This news is definitely a win for users, offering them more choices in terms of operating systems for their devices.
