Microsoft Unable to Fix Windows Start Menu and Search Bar Bug

Microsoft has recently revealed a fix for a bug affecting the start menu, search bar and some Universal Windows Platform apps preventing them from starting correctly, but unfortunately its not a good fix.

Windows Start Menu and UWP Bug

The bug which prevents the Start Menu, Windows search bar and some of the Universal Windows Platform apps from opening or working correctly has been an issue with Windows 11 and 10 for a while now. This bug is suspected to be caused by damaged registry keys which are related to the Microsoft Office apps and apps that integrate with Office. Unfortunately, Microsoft still hasn’t yet fixed the issue fully and has just provided a workaround.

What is The Workaround?

Neowin.net initially reported on the bug and has further shared the information that the tech giant has been unable to fix the bug instead providing the following workaround of simply uninstalling the apps which integrate with Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Calendar. This isn’t the best workaround as it doesn’t exactly narrow down exactly what apps are causing the issue and just means users have to just guess and hope they uninstall the right apps and fix the issue.
