Well, this is new. We all know how frustrating it is to wait for carriers to get the latest phone updates and then roll them out in each country. This leads to some people getting the update sooner than others and some may not even get the updates at all. But this is about to change for Windows Phone users.
Microsoft said that all Windows 10 Mobile users should expect to get the updates as soon as they roll out. This is because Microsoft confirmed it will solely handle the updates pushed to all active Windows 10 Mobile smartphones in the world. Pretty neat, huh? This means that even the low-end devices that carriers may consider obsolete in the past will receive the latest software updates.
The company’s approach is similar to what Apple uses to push out software updates to all its devices, independent of all carriers. Now all that remains to be seen is when Android users will see a similar option on their OS’ too, but I think it will take a lot more time for the latter OS to pack everything up to a single distribution (if ever). So are you a Windows Phone user? How excited are you to know you will get updates as soon as they roll out?
