Microsoft is Now Trying Windows 11 Reverse Psychology Nagware!

Microsoft wants us all to make the transition to Windows 11. The only problem they have is a lot of people would rather downgrade to Windows XP than make the move to their latest operating system. – Yep, it’s hard to deny (even as an exceptionally early adopter) that Microsoft has made more than a few faux pas when it has come to Windows 11. Mostly, admittedly, through their own making via updates which clearly lacked any kind of thorough quality control which, by proxy, resulted in it creating a hell of a lot more problems (for some users) than it ever solved!

Following a report via TechRadar, however, it seems that Microsoft is, once again, upping their Windows 11 nagware game. Albeit, this time around, it seems that rather than their prior tactics of encouragement, this time around they might be trying some reverse psychology.

How, well, apparently they now want to make you feel bad that your system isn’t good enough for Windows 11.

Windows 11 – ‘Your Hardware isn’t Good Enough’ Edition!

As I’m sure many of you are aware, one of the biggest initial problems for Windows 11 adoption was its rather terse, and in some respects, very bizarre system requirements. – As we’ve noted many times in the past, we daresay that the vast majority of you had never heard of TPM 2.0 until Windows 11 came along requiring it!

Following a new nagware watermark that has been reported by a number of Windows 10 users, however, it seems that Microsoft is now going to invade your desktop with a reminder that the 11 upgrade can’t proceed because, shucks, the “System requirements [are] not met”.

Overall, I sincerely hope that this is just an isolated incident because if Microsoft was struggling to win goodwill from the community to get them to, you know, voluntarily upgrade to Windows 11, giving them a reminder that their hardware and/or configuration can’t do it isn’t exactly encouraging.

Then again, I can’t help but possibly feel that this reverse psychology might backfire on them. I mean, call me crazy, but could you see this ‘nagware’ actually being subverted into a kind of badge of honour for some people? – You know, along the lines of ‘my system can’t install Windows 11. Here’s the proof! Oh, and by the way, that’s fine by me!’.

Oh, please, someone out there, make one of those ‘Designed For Windows’ stickers you used to get on pre-built systems saying ‘Not Designed for Windows 11!’ – I’m sure Microsoft would love that!
