Super resolution technology is the big talk of the last few years with DLSS, FSR and XeSS all allowing us to enjoy our games just a bit more, especially on lower end systems. New information has come to light which shows that Microsoft are working on something named “Automatic Super Resolution” for Windows 11.
A feature in the upcoming Windows 11 Version 24H2 has been spotted by PhantomOfEarth on Twitter (Via VideoCardz). Located within the graphics settings on Windows 11 is a toggle named “Automatic Super Resolution” which uses AI to make supported games, or apps, play more smoothly with enhanced details. Now i’m not really sure how this would come into play for Windows apps, but one thought is that media players could take advantage without needing to use technology such as RTX Video Super Resolution or FidelityFX Super Resolution.
This tech could be quite popular as it will allow for upscaling without needing developers to implement it into their games. As of now this feature isn’t confirmed nor has the date of this Windows update, however it will be later this year.
