MSPaint, it’s one of the core features of Windows that has been mostly unchanged since the time of the dinosaurs. When it comes to a simple editor, it’s been stable as a rock, and pretty easy to use even if it has been extremely limiting in terms of features.
The new Paint app will be completely overhauled, and while it will retain the classic side for those who need it, you’ll also be able to use 3D objects, annotate them, a whole new tool set to accommodate creating and manipulating the new objects, touch and pen support, and much more.
The update has been a long time coming and Paint Preview is certainly shaping up nicely. Why Microsoft has left it so long is baffling to me, but it looks like the new 3D manipulation features could be handy for Hololens, and may even integrate into the rumoured upcoming Microsoft Surface device.
