Introduced for the first time by Microsoft in 1990 as part of Windows 3.0, Solitaire is one of the most popular games in the world. However, what some of you might not know is that it was originally created to help users get familiarised with different aspects of a graphical user interface. Its popularity encouraged Microsoft to implement it in pretty much every other Windows version since then, and even though it was removed from Windows 8 for some reason, it can be downloaded separately from the Windows Store. With Windows 10, the company launched a brand new “Solitaire Collection” that includes the classic version of the game as well as a few other variants.
The good news is that this game bundle is now available on for iOS and Android devices as well, and it comprises five games that users can play for free: Pyramid, Tripeaks, Klondike, FreeCell and Spider. The standard Solitaire Collection is free (it has ads), but there’s also a rather cheap paid version available that costs just $1.99 and doubles the coin rewards received for daily challenges. Downloading the game before the end of the year will include one free month of Premium access, which is always nice. Solitaire is known as “the most-used Windows application in the world,”as more than 119 million people have played it on Windows 10 PCs and Windows-powered mobile devices in the last four years.
