Minecraft 1.11 Exploration Update Detailed

Jens Bergensten took to the stage on the final day of Minecon 2016 to give us a quick rundown of the changelog for the upcoming Minecraft update, which will see the game reach version 1.11.
The update, dubbed “Exploration Update” will add a host of new features and tweaks to the core gameplay, and while there was no hint of the full release date for these changes, we do know there will be a snapshot of the update on the 28th of September that you can try out.
So what can you expect? Llamas, which will serve as a new mount, have a ranged spit attack, can carry satchels, be decorated with carpets (basically just a redesigned saddle), and best of all, you can use a lead on one llama, and all the others will form a caravan behind it.
Woodland Mansion dungeon types will be a new rare feature, giving you procedurally-generated mansions to explore, as well as three new mobs; Evoker, Vex and Vindicator which are said to offer some pretty tough challenges, even for experienced gamers. They’ll also offer rare spawns of Totem of Undying, a consumable item which can protect you from a fatal blow and give your stats a short boost; handy for Survival mode lovers.
On top of that, you’ll find cartographer and treasure maps, with some villagers getting updated to help accommodate you in that respect. The maps themselves will be updated to give you better reference points and navigation to their loot. This is boosted further by the location console command, which will give you coordinates to key world locations.
Shulker Boxes, a box made from, you guessed it, Shulker Shells, is another nice new addition. Any items placed in the box will stay in the box, even if that box is destroyed and rebuilt later on elsewhere in the game.
