Minecraft was always popular, with the ability to build everything from a nice little house to a fully automated farm all with just a few blocks. Now Microsoft, the latest owner of the franchise, has finally made good on a promise to support VR in the game.
Microsoft made the promise about adding VR support into Minecraft almost 11 months ago, and the company has made good on that promise. The latest patch adds support for the Oculus Rift VR headset, ending the life of a mod that allowed people to unofficially play the game with their headsets.
With the latest patch supporting VR headsets, the support is only for the Windows 10 version of the game, meaning that anyone playing the original Java version of the game may want to pop over and download the mod, Vivecraft, while it’s still available from GitHub.
While many will still enjoy the game the latest patch adds yet another feature to the long list of features going between the two “official” PC versions of the popular game. Do you play the game? Have you ever considered using a VR headset with popular sandbox games like Minecraft or do you feel like you burn through too much time with the game already?
