The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon is no stranger to interesting moments and clever PR stunts, and today’s was pretty special for anyone that loves Nintendo, or even just gaming in general. Fallon and his team uploaded a video to their YouTube today, which shows off Jimmy Fallon, as well as the Tonight Show Band (The Roots) playing the Super Mario Bros. Theme along with their special guest Shigeru Miyamoto.
“Super Mario creator and Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto performs “Super Mario Bros. Theme” with The Roots for the Tonight Show audience.” YouTube
Miyamoto is a legend when it comes to gaming, and has pioneered most of Nintendo’s gaming history over the last few decades, plus he seems pretty confident on the guitar too, a man of many talents indeed.
Of course, the show wasn’t just about the music, and Fallon took a look at the new Nintendo Mobile game Super Mario Run, which is basically a new take on flappy bird if anything, but it’s good to see Nintendo is considering other platforms again, no doubt after the global success of Pokemon Go. They also played the new Nintendo Switch, showing off a fully working console on the show, and Jimmy got stuck into The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is shaping up to be another fantastic entry in the franchise. Unfortunately, you’ll have to tune into the full show to catch the footage of this, but with all this gaming goodness going on, that’s hardly a bad thing.
The Nintendo switch is set to release worldwide in March 2017, and will allow you to game both at home and on the go thanks to its innovative modular design.
