MLG Pro Xbox 360 Controller Review

Obviously this controller is all about doing some serious gaming, so I picked my top titles in both competetive gaming and some single player games, just to see how it handled as an every day replacement for the standard controller.  I picked up Halo Reach, Battlefield 3, Borderlands and Forza 4 on the Xbox 360, plus I use my 360 controller on the PC a lot, just not for online gaming, but I still put it through its paces on the PC with Skyrim and Fifa 12.

For me the most important one out of them all was Halo Reach, the first thing I noticied was the sensitivity of the sticks was a lot higher than I was used to, knocking down the games sensitivity 2 points fixed that problem though, but with the sticks having more throw in them I didn’t loose any of my turning speed, I did however gain more control over fine adjustments in my aim, very handy for long range sniper shots.

The same with Battlefield 3 and Borderlands, although I tend to get fatigued hands with battlefield 3, given how intense the game can be, but this wasn’t the case with the MLG controller, its slight tweaks and differences in weight, as well as its improved triggers and buttons meant I could game for longer and without the usual impending discomfort.

As I expected though, casual gaming on Forza 4, Skyrim and Fifa 12 was sublime, even if your not going to be touring the pro gaming circuit, or your not interested in online gaming and just want to play your favourite RPG all day, you may as well do it in style and comfort with a custom controller.

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
