Those of you who are fans of co-op action RPGs will be glad to hear about Dauntless. The game is being developed by Phoenix Labs, whose members recently decided to place it in an early access phase. During this time, players will be able to provide valuable feedback. In turn, the devs will constantly update and expand the project through its live service. So what can you expect once you dive into Dauntless’ action-packed world? For once, content such as Behemoths, armor, weapons, islands and story expansions. The story tells of a cataclysmic event that shattered the world into several islands. Dubbed Shattered Isles, the game’s world is filled with infamous Behemoths, which also grow in power as they threaten humanity’s survival.
Co-Founder and Executive Producer over at Phoenix Labs, Jesse Houston has issued a statement:
“Dauntless is a living game that we’ll be continuing to evolve, grow and expand through Closed Beta, Open Beta and beyond. Today’s Closed Beta launch marks the beginning of an amazing journey we’ll be taking with the Dauntless community for years to come.”
In Dauntless, you take on the role of Slayers – elite warriors that fight for humanity’s own survival against Behemoths. Tapping into their enemies’ own power, players will be able to customize their weapons and armor through a deep crafting system. Gamers can also form squads of four members to hunt the beasts, which sounds like a nice way to spend an evening. While the game will launch as free-to-play later this year, it definitely looks polished so far. Phoenix Labs includes former members of CapCom, Blizzard, and BioWare. The studio was founded by a few former Riot Games developers, so a certain level of quality is expected.
I can’t wait to try it out for myself. How about you?
