Monster Hunter Wilds Sets Steam Record, Surpasses Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077 in Half a Day

Monster Hunter Wilds may have some technical issues on PC, but it’s undeniable that the game has attracted a massive number of users. As the first day is almost over, the game has had several hours to gather players, and we can now look at how well it has performed.
The numbers are impressive: 1,307,976 concurrent users on Steam at its peak, with over 1,005,970 players still online at the time of writing this article. Clearly, this is the best result for the Monster Hunter series.
Comparing the Numbers of Monster Hunter Wilds

To put these numbers into perspective, within just half a day, Monster Hunter Wilds became the sixth most-played game on Steam of all time. Above it are PUBG: Battlegrounds (3.2 million), Black Myth Wukong (2.4 million), Palworld (2.1 million), CS 2 (1.8 million), and Lost Ark (1.32 million).
Monster Hunter Wilds has beaten Dota 2 (1.29 million), Cyberpunk 2077 (1.05 million), Elden Ring (953,426), and Banana (917,272), which closes the Top 10. Of course, with the first weekend of activity approaching, it’s possible that this number will increase, allowing the game to at least surpass Lost Ark.
The only limit could be the technical issues, which have led to a number of negative reviews and may have turned away some players who are waiting for patches. However, the development team has stated that they’ve “optimized Wilds as much as possible.”
