Monthly Minecraft Magazine Set for the UK

Who can deny it, Minecraft is possibly the biggest gaming phenomena of recent years; it started life on the PC and then moved its way to consoles and even smartphones. Since launch, it has sold well over 50 million copies of the game and over 100 million users.
Something that you tend not to see much in today’s media is printed articles, everything is now online where information and publishing is free. If you remember back to the late 90’s, almost every other magazine in the gaming section was a strategy guide; mostly Pokemon.
Mojang struck a deal with Dennis Publishing to produce a monthly magazine called Minecraft World. It will be the first regularly published magazine that is dedicated to Minecraft. The print run for the first issue is set at 45,000. Despite Dennis striking this deal and being allowed to use the official images and trademarks; the magazine will be an unofficial Minecraft product.
“Dennis Publishing will have the first unofficial Minecraft magazine on sale in the UK,” said Dharmesh Mistry, publisher of the title at Dennis. “There was a real gap in the market for a quality print magazine that could help children develop their game strategy”.
The magazine is set to be 52 pages long and cost £3.99. The target age will be aimed at 7 to 11-year-olds, but who really takes notice in the age? If you’re interested in it, you will likely buy it. This will be available at most high street retailers.
Are you a Minecraft fan? I like to play every now and then, build my house and get bored when I can’t find any diamonds. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
