Mozilla developer testing Firefox browser for Ouya Console

The open source browser Firefox is being tested on Ouya, an open source cube-shaped console by Mozilla. Mozilla’s mobile platform engineer Chris Lord mentioned it on Ouya’s forum that they’re finding what is needed to make Firefox usable in OUYA.

“It already works and we have some preliminary patches for gamepad support, but there’s still quite a bit of work to be done to make it really usable.”, he continues. Do note that there’s still no guarantee that Mozilla Firefox will work on the Android based console that is set to cost $99.

To those who don’t know, Ouya was a project that has taken shared thanks due to backing they received via Kickstarter which resulted in raising $ 8.5 Million. OUYA is said to run on a custom Jelly Bean OS with a TV UI interface version with mobile gamepad, Tegra 3 chip, 1.7 GHz processor and 1GB of memory.
