MSI 3070 SUPRIM SE GODZILLA Officially Launches in Japan

Earlier this week, images leaked online suggesting that MSI was preparing to launch a brand new graphics card set to feature an aesthetic based on the exceptionally popular ‘King of the Monsters’ Godzilla. – While it was, at the time, unclear as to whether this would see a general release or, rather, it was just a one-off custom design, however, following a report via TechPowerUp, MSI has now officially confirmed the launch of its new GeForce RTX 3070 SUPRIM SE GODZILLA GPU. Well… In Japan, at least.
MSI GeForce RTX 3070 SUPRIM SE GODZILLA
In confirming the launch, MSI has officially teamed up with Japanese film studio Toho to produce this honestly quite fantastic-looking Godzilla graphics card. In terms of specifications, it has been confirmed that there is nothing particularly special happening here beyond the aesthetics, though. They are, in a nutshell, the same as their ‘standard’ 3070 SURPIM.
With this now available as a general consumer item, though, while it is only currently available in Japan, there are hopes that this will also be brought to Western shores.
The Price Tag
After some conversions from Yen to Dollars, MSI has confirmed that the GeForce RTX 3070 SUPRIM SE GODZILLA will cost something in the region of $1,060. Although not an entirely insane price based on what we’re currently seeing, it’s still pretty hefty for what is essentially a mildly overclocked 3070 GPU. – Without a doubt, however, this will be highly collectable, and if you’re lucky enough to get one for something close to that price, its value will probably increase quite significantly.
Personally, though, I’m just hoping that MSI decides to bring this to the west because, let’s face it, who doesn’t love Godzilla?… Well, except the people he tramples in his wake… And Mothra… And King Kong now, apparently.
