MSI Announces 6 RX 470 Graphics Cards

With the launch of the RX 470 today, many AIB partners have started to officially unveil their custom Polaris 10 graphics cards. While we’ve already seen the Powercolor Red Devil and the Sapphire Nitro+, we’re getting the largest release yet so far with MSI’s new offerings. Dwarfing even their GTX 1060 launch, MSI is releasing a total of 6 different RX 470 variants today.
Chief among the releases is the MSI RX 470 Gaming X model. This features the highest clocks of their cards and comes in both a 4GB and 8GB variant. The cards boost up to 1254 MHz which is actually a smaller factory overclock than expected. The limit certainly isn’t the cooler with the TWIN FROZR VI cooler with TORX Fan 2.0 and dual copper heatpipes nor the custom PCB with six power phases powered over an 8pin PCIe power connector. The more pedestrian regular Gaming non-X features a lower clock of 1230 Mhz, with perhaps a different PCB.
With the Gaming variants account for 4 of the models, all that’s left are the 4GB and 8GB variants of the ARMOR. Using the older but more than sufficient TWIN FROZR V design, MSI has decked the card out in black and white. There is no word yet on pricing or the clockspeeds for this model. All six models should feature the now ubiquitous RGB LED lighting.
