MSI Announces GeForce GTX 1080 Ti ARMOR and GTX 1080 Ti AERO Video Cards

MSI has announced two further additions to their NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti video card line up in the form of the MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Aero and GTX 1080 Ti Armor graphics cards. MSI now officially has the Founder’s Edition, Gaming X, and these two new additions although they have yet to fully unveil their Sea Hawk/Sea Hawk EK GTX 1080 Ti water-cooled variant to complete the lineup.

The GTX 1080 Ti Aero sports a single blower-style cooler that is designed differently from the reference Founder’s Edition models. With its bright green accents on the side, the MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Aero almost looks like an NVIDIA Quadro video card on first glance. MSI is offering up two version of the GTX 1080 Ti Aero, a standard version with a 1480/1582 MHz Base/Boost clock and an Aero OC version which has a 1506/1620 MHz Base/Boost clock. It also has reference GTX 1080 Ti display connectors including an HDMI port and three full-size DisplayPorts.

The MSI GTX 1080 Ti Armor on the other hand has a dual-fan TORX design that have steep curved fan blades for quieter operation which also stop during low-loads. Its shroud has a black and white color scheme that matches MSI’s Krait series well. It also has three massive heatpipes and comes with a backplate.

The PCB it uses is custom and upgrades the reference 7-phase VRM to an 8-phase design using MSI’s Super Ferrite chokes. Like the MSI GTX 1080 Ti Aero, the MSI GTX 1080 Ti Armor is also available in regular and OC versions with base/boost clocks of 1480/1582 MHz and 1531/1645MHz respectively. In terms of connectivity, it has the single HDMI and three DisplayPort as the reference design but adds a DVI-D port as well since it does not need to exhaust entirely at the back IO so it can utilize this space with an extra display connector.
