MSI Bringing Back MPower With New Z790 Board

MSI’s MPower line hasn’t been used since the Z170/Z270 era which was almost 7 years ago, but now this motherboard series is coming back in the form of a Z790 motherboard that is priced surprisingly well.

As reported by WCCFTech, MSI’s MPower series is an overclocking focused motherboard design which was a popular choice back in the day. A new Z790 MATX motherboard has been revealed with a rather basic mainstream looking design, but the capabilities of hitting some of the highest DDR5 speeds out there with support for 8000+ MT/s memory with two DIMM slots allowing for up to 128GB. MSI has even gone as far as to work with various DRAM manufacturers to create MPOWER-branded DDR5 kits.
The board also features a 15-phase VRM design with several large heatsinks featuring a silver and black finish and various overclocking terminologies pasted across them. The board also includes a single PCIe 5.0 X16 slot, two PCIe 4.0 X1 and X4 slots. four SATA III ports and two M.2 slots with heatsinks. The I/O features four USB 2.0, three USB 3.2 Gen 1, and a single USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C Port. Network connectivity includes WiFi 6E + BT5.2, 2.5GbE and finally a 7.1 channel audio jack.
Price and Availability
This motherboard should be arriving at $199 which is a very pleasant price considering what it offers for memory overclocking. Availability is expected very soon but the board will hit the Asian markets first at 1599 RMB.
