How Much Does it Cost?

Amazingly, the MSI Clutch GM41 RGB Optical Lightweight Gaming Mouse is just £49.99. I found stock at Scan.co.uk only so far, but this is the launch day, and I expect more stock will arrive at other retailers such as Amazon soon enough. The price is very competitive for a gaming mouse with this performance level, but it’s about on par with the other lightweight gaming mice we’ve seen over the last year.

Overview

MSI is one of the biggest and best names when it comes to PC gaming. They’ve got countless awards for their graphics cards, motherboards and other hardware. However, their peripherals business is relatively new for the enthusiast market. It’s great to see them get some serious competition when it comes to eSports grade hardware with the Clutch GM41.

Performance

The mouse was absolutely flawless in every test I threw at it. I couldn’t throw the sensor off its path at all. That’s really important, as the last thing anyone wants is the mouse letting you down in the heat of competition. Good sensors are easy to find these days, but this is definitely a great one. It has a low lift-off height too, and with that grip on the sides of the mouse, it’s very easy to use a low DPI and lift-off technique.

However, if you want to dial the DPI right up and rely on fingertip twitches to score your next headshot, you’ll reap huge benefits from the lightweight design and Teflon pads on the bottom of the mouse.

Design and Build Quality

It looks and feels like a standard MSI Clutch gaming mouse. That may not seem all the surprising. However, a lot of gaming mice are using the exoskeleton look to shed their weight. MSI trimmed down the side switch size, thinned a few out, and made some internal layout changes to get similar results. However, the mouse doesn’t feel compromised. I can press down on it, squeeze it, shake it, bop it… it just feels like a regular and durable mouse. It just also happens to be 65g, which is awesome.

Should I Buy One?

While this may be marketed as a gaming mouse, I think it’s more just a PC mouse in its purest form. It’s simple, with a five-button design, including the clickable scroll wheel; I’m not counting the DPI button, as it’s hidden out of the way. It’s just great quality switches, a fantastic sensor, and a lightweight design that glides like its on ice. If that sounds like what you need for your work, gaming, or just scrolling reddit all day, the Clutch GM41 RGB is ticking all of the right boxes. Highly recommended.
