MSI Clutch GM51 Lightweight Wireless Mouse Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The MSI Clutch GM51 Lightweight Wireless Mouse is available from today with an MSRP of just $99. I don’t have the UK pricing, but I think a safe guess is going to be £90-100 for this. That is a big investment, but keep in mind that this mouse is packed with features, multiple connectivity options, long battery life, etc, so the price is pretty competitive for a high-end wireless mouse. It’s on par with the SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless, Kone Pro Air, Razer Viper Ultimate and Corsair Dark Core RGB PRO SE in terms of price, but has a longer battery life and better sensor than just about anything out there.

Final Thoughts

I think MSI is finally breaking into new territory with their peripherals, as they’ve always been good, but also been a little budget friendly and glossy in a way that made them look a little cheaper than they were. That’s really not true with the Clutch GM51, to the point I think they should have given it a more unique name, like the start of a new… something. It’s not just an upgrade to the old model, it’s a complete overhaul, and it’s honestly all the better for it.

The ergonomics, build quality and weight are really in tune here. The mouse feels very natural and comfortable in my hand regardless of what grip type I choose, so it should be well suited to a wide range of gamers and play styles. Plus, the LightGrips do actually provide grip as intended, giving the mouse some nimble fingertip control, helped further by the ample amount of PTFE feet.

The sensor is totally overkill, and I love it. It tracks really cleanly and smoothly, and it feels perfectly responsive too. While 26000 DPI is bonkers, the mouse operates really nicely around 3200 DPI for me, but it’s great to have that range should you need it. Plus, the Omron switches are nice and responsive too, making this a great daily work and gaming mouse overall.

Should I Buy One?

The mouse is a little on the expensive side, so I can appreciate it’s a bit much for a lot of people. However, if you want a feature-packed gaming mouse with great performance, multiple modes of connectivity, long battery life, really unique RGB, and a neat little charging dock, the MSI Clutch GM51 ticks all the right boxes.
