Final Thoughts
Price
The MSI Clutch GM70 Hybrid Wireless/Wired Optical Gaming Mouse is packed full of features. Being a flagship product, it comes with the flagship price to match. It’ll be hitting retail and etail stores any time now, with an MSRP of $109.99. Obviously, that’s a lot of money, but compared to the flagships from Corsair, Logitech, Razer, etc, it’s still very competitive in terms of price vs spec.
Overview
I’ve fallen completely in love with this mouse, and that’s not something that happens often. It delivers every feature you could want from a high-end gaming mouse, and can easily compete with anything else on the market. The Razer Mamba, ASUS Spatha and a whole bunch of others deliver similar features, but both cost around $50 more. Is the MSI mouse a cheaper product to help keep it competitive? Not at all, it’s every bit the premium product we hoped for.
Customisation
Tweaking the RGB lighting to match you other peripherals is well taken care of these days. It’s nothing new to the market, but the GM70 does have a good lighting engine and looks superb when lit up. However, the customisation certainly doesn’t start and end there. You can change the top panel for one of two included in the box. You can also swap out both the left and right side panels. Overall, you can completely change the size, shape and grip type of the mouse. You can also switch it from left to right, or even have it set to ambidextrous to suit your needs. If all that wasn’t enough, you can program every button, and even switch it from fully wired to wireless modes!
Gaming
With a powerful PWM 3360 Optical sensor, this mouse is no slouch when it comes to scoring headshots. It’s very nimble and accurate when it comes to any kind of gaming. Being able to program the buttons, apply macros, profiles, shortcuts and more make going from CS:GO to ESO as easy as a single click too. It’s going to feel at home in the office playing Minesweeper or in an eSports tournament playing for $1m prize pots, it’s a jack of all trades for sure.
Build Quality
No expense has been spared here, it’s a great looking and feeling product. The hardware is chunky and robust, which does mean it feels a little weighted, but no more so than its competitors. All those features add some bulk, but it’s not like those wanting something stripped down and light haven’t got other options on the market. The USB cable can be detached easily enough and locks firmly in place when needed. The magnetic panels are strong and snap into place with ease, yet stay firmly in place one installed.
Should I Buy One?
I highly recommend this mouse to any PC gamer, and even more so those who do more than just game. From working in the office to all night gaming sessions, the GM70 ticks all the right boxes for features and performance. Let’s not forget, it’s also cheaper than its biggest rivals, making it a certain hit for MSI and their fans.
