MSI @ Computex 2024

Computex 2024:

MSI is one of the biggest names in the world, and it’s no surprise that they have one of the biggest booths here at Computex 2024, but also one of the largest selections of products on display. The first thing we spotted was their Modern PC build, which uses a lot of MSI components, but the star of the show is their Modern Series PC Case. It features a gorgeous blend of white, silver and light wood for a really unique take on the “let’s add wood” case trend.

It features two wooden rails along the top, as well as a deep recessed handle in the rear of the case.

There’s also a wooden strip along the front with a slightly in-dented shape to the front mesh to make it look more fluid and natural.

There’s lots of ventilation here, with radiator and fan support in the front, top, right side, botton and rear of the case.

There’s even these gorgeous new fans which feature matching wood strips along their sides to better suit the case.

Overall, it’s one of the most unique looking cases at the show this year.

I’ve seen some strange M.2 cards over the years, but the M.2 XPANDER-AERO Slider Gen5 certainly stands out here. It installs much like a GPU, and even looks like one thanks to the active cooling on the card.

However, the drives can be hot-swapped and loaded in from the rear of the card. This means you don’t have to open your case, or remove the PCIe card, or even shut down your system. Just slide them into the rear loading slots and you’re good to go!

As you can see, the drive trays little eject out of the back, and feature their own direct mount heatsinks for extreme cooling performance!

Motherboards

The new MSI / Intel Memory Innovation Design was on show too, brining Mini_CUDIMM memory solutions to their MPower series of motherboards.

This new memory format allows for even lower latency than every before, and I suspect we’ll be seeing this crop up a lot more in the coming months.

It was present on a range of new MPower boards, and we can’t wait to get them in for testing!

The benefits of these modules is ineterseting, as their orientation means they can be placed under massive heatsinks and armour like we often see for M.2 storage.

This could mean much better cooling performance and bigger overclocks for the new memory format.

While details are still a bit thin, these new motherboards show the new Intel socket for Arrow-Lake CPUs that are expected over the next few months!

Graphics Cards

AI Generated Edition of the RTX 4060 looks utterly bonkers, with an AI Generated design that has then been 3D printed with advanced colouring. It’s still a high-end version of the RTX 4060, but I’ll be damned if that isn’t one very exciting looking cooler!

Jensen Huang even signed this one, I mean, he signed a lot of interesting things at Computex if I’m honest (if you know, you know).

This is a pretty amazing looking card though, and I wonder if we’ll see more of these later this year that we can buy.

RTX 4090 SUPRIM FUZION

This is one seriously wild version of the RTX 4090, and maybe one of the most powerful consumer GPUs we’ve ever seen too. It features a dual cooler design that’s both air cooler and liquid cooling all-in-one. I suppose it comes as no surprise that it’s also freaking massive and extraordinarily heavy too.

The massive card features a low-profile pump design, allowing for more clearance for the massive radiator and airflow.

It features its own liquid reservoir to help improve the overall stability of the liquid flow.

The cooling fins are pretty dense for the liquid cooling, but there are more sparce ones for general heat dissipation too, giving you the best of both worlds.

They’ve done a similar thing with the RTX 4080 EXPERT FUZION too, but since this card has a lower TDP, they’ve managed to keep is in a more traditional form factor.

As you can see, the AIO literally sits within a more traditional air cooling setup!

Storage

The new SPATIUM SSD also takes things to the next level, with a built-in non-metal vapor chamber design. While the contact plate is still copper, and there is liquid inside, the clear top means you can see the coolant reacting with the heatsink, and this is unlike anything I’ve seen before!

Their demo says it can drop the M.2 temperatures by around 10c vs their conventional heatsinks.

More Motherboards!

Finally, we have their upcoming MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI motherboard, which supports Ryzen 7000, 8000 and of course, 9000 series processors, DDR5 memory, WIFI7, and features a plethora of power delivery and cooling enhancements for extreme performance.

And the same goes for the new PRO X870-P WIFI, which is still well equipped, but aimed more at creators, while the TOMAHAWK is the more gamer friendly solution.
