MSI Core Frozr XL RGB CPU Cooler Review

MSI Core Frozr XL RGB CPU Cooler Review

As one of the most recognisable names in the PC hardware market, MSI has a lot to live up to with their latest CPU cooler, the Core Frozr XL. Equipped with dual 120mm fans, and promising big cooling performance, it sounds like the perfect CPU cooler for the PC gaming enthusiast, and the kind of systems they like to build.

WE KEEP IT COOL, YOU GET TO FRAG

“Games are brought to life through hhigh-performancehardware which can get pretty hot in the thick of battle. The cooling of components can make all the difference when you need your hardware to keep its cool for a smooth gaming experience. The MSI Core Frozr XL has been designed using all the experience and cutting-edge technologies of MSI GAMING products to provide best-in-class thermal performance.” – MSI

The fans are MSI TORX 120mm models, which use hydro-dynamic bearings, promising low noise and plenty of airflow. With two fans, we can expect the heat to leave the cooler nice and fast. Of course, getting it from the CPU shouldn’t be a problem either, as this cooler packs an impressive collection of 8 x 6mm “SuperPipes” for a total of 250W heat dissipation. That’s a lot for a cooler of this size, and it should handle just about any CPU on the market today.

Features

  • Solid nickel-plated copper baseplate connected with eight highly efficient 6mm SuperPipes and aluminium fins to dissipate up to 250W of heat from the CPU.
  • Airflow Control Technology use small indentations in the aluminium fins to direct more airflow onto the heat pipes for better cooling.
  • MSI TORX design 120mm Fan featuring the award-winning MSI TORX design uses Hydro-dynamic bearing to increase airflow.
  • Personalize your rig with MSI Mystic Light App and choose from millions of colours and animated effects by PC or mobile device.
  • The Smart base design leaves enough space for the graphics card on the 1st PCI-e slot.
  • Adjustable fan setup ranged from 36mm-55mm to prevent the intervention with memory installation.
  • Easy to install and compatible with all Intel and AMD platforms.

RGB

Just about everything is RGB these days, so you’ll be happy to know that this cooler comes with MSI Mystic Light. That means you can tweak the colours from your desktop, or even with the mobile app, which is pretty cool.
