MSI entering SSD market with Sandforce

MSI are better known for their motherboards, graphics cards and gaming notebooks, but they also dabble in cases too. Now it seems they are looking to expand their portfolio even more and move into the SSD storage market. According to LSI-Sandforce corporation, MSI’s latest venture will be SSDs backed by their controllers.
On their website MSI is listed as being an LSI-Sandforce partner. MSI will be basing their SSDs off the very popular SF-2000 series controllers, probably the SF-2281 that has featured in most of the high performance SATA III SSDs to hit the market in the past few years.
No official time frame has been given to MSI’s venture but it is listed as coming soon. This isn’t the first time MSI has been involved with Solid State Drives, its high-end GT60/GT70 gaming notebooks come with a self-designed SSD RAID solution, that makes use of SanDisk-branded mSATA SSDs in RAID 0 configuration.
Currently more information is being requested from MSI but it is unknown whether they will want to comment on the matter or whether they will want to give the LSI-Sandforce corporation an earbashing.
