Mainboard and gaming product manufacturer MSI is expanding their mechanical keyboard line with the introduction of two new keyboards. The Vigor GK70 and Vigor GK80 are backlit RGB LED keyboards using Cherry MX Red or Silver switches. These were actually initially introduced at CES 2018, but they are now available for purchase. Cherry MX Red allows for a linear non-clicky actuation while Cherry MX Silver switches provide the fastest actuation out of any Cherry-based mechanical switches.
Both Vigor GK70 and GK80 share similar features. However, what sets them apart is their layout. The Vigor GK70 is a tenkeyless keyboard, while the Vigor GK80 is a 100% layout keyboard with a numpad. In fact you can read our review of this GK80 keyboard here.
Due to the GK80’s longer size, it also gets the benefit of having extra room for some features. This includes a USB passthrough and multi-media controls at the top edge. Both keyboards however, get replaceable keycaps in two varieties: 12 with a rubber textured finish and 4 with metal surface to instantly find the right keys.
Both keyboards are available now, with the Vigor GK70 having an MSRP of £129.99 inc VAT. Meanwhile the Vigor GK80 costs £159.98 inc VAT.
