Does anyone here remember the original GUS from MSI? It’s a few years old now, but that doesn’t mean MSI aren’t eager to upgrade the unit, and have brought along their new G.U.S to CES 2017 for all to see. It features a really cool angular design with a black and red theme, and offers space on the interior for a highend GPU, such as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 from MSI which is fitted in this demo unit.
G.U.S connects to your system using Thunderbolt 3, allowing for blazing fast data transfer speeds and performance thanks to its 40Gbps capabilities of TB3. If you hooked this up to say, a notebook with TB3, you would be able to tap into the full power of that GPU on the fly for work, gaming, rendering, anything really. However, you can remove the TB3 cable and retain the full mobility of your notebook for day-to-day work.
With a built-in 500W Gold Rated PSU, Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.0 Type-C, USB 3.0 Typa A, and a USB quick-charge port, the G.U.S is one of the best external GPU units we’ve seen!
No price or release date just yet, but we would expect more information to be released very soon.
