CPU & Memory Performance
Cinebench R15
The laptop’s Skylake mobile processor performed superbly in single threaded workloads and easily surpassed the Gigabyte P34W v3’s i7 4720HQ. This demonstrates the core enhancements from Intel’s latest architecture and how the mobile chip manages to outperform older generation desktop CPUs like the i5 4690K.
Bizarrely, the OpenGL scores were so inconsistent and I struggled to find an accurate reading. The values jumped between 20, 34, 90, 45, and anything within this range. Despite running the benchmark over 20 times, I still couldn’t find a representative result. Therefore, it’s fair to say a software bug due to the CPU’s unreleased nature could have caused these incompatibility problems.
Super Pi
The computational time in SuperPI was quite prolonged and overstretched the 10 minute mark. Once again, I’m uncertain if this is an accurate representation of the CPU’s abilities or an example of a piece of software struggling with the latest chip on the market, prior to release.

In terms of memory bandwidth, the GE62 6QD is the best performing laptop we’ve tried and greatly benefits from the DDR4-2133MHz frequency. Clearly, it struggles to match dual-channel or quad-channel memory but still holds its own exceptionally well.
