Typically the acoustic performance of a gaming or general consumer laptop, notebook or Ultrabook is a key area of focus, as this can be a critical point of decision for a number of people. In the case of the GT60-2OK, performance is a priority so for our acoustic test, I enabled the ‘Cooler Boost’ feature to ramp up the cooling ability of the system and to give a worst case scenario when rendering images and video content.
In an idle state, the system was just as quiet as any other, however when enabling the boost feature, the system was particularly noisy, so much so was the case that I had to put a set of headphones on just to block out the noise from the system whilst it was being tested. So if you’re going to be using the system, either put a set of headphones on or hold off using the boost function until you are away from the desk / table for a while.
