Temperatures
Measuring temperatures is all about being consistent therefore we keep a steady eye on monitoring the ambient room temperature to make sure that it stays the same. While this is constantly being monitored, we measure the idle temperature of the card using HWMonitor over a 15 minute period. Once this has been recorded, we set FurMark into motion for 15 minutes and record the results again.
When we take a closer look at the system temperatures, for the purpose of measuring accurate figures i did not enable the Cooler Boost feature which would reduce the full load figures and not represent the point where the GPU and CPU would high their maximums. In the case of this engineering sample, we have to take the load figures and reduce them back a little. The reason for this comes down to the design of the heatsink that has been used in here.
As highlighted back on page 2, the GPU and CPU have totally separate heatsinks which have no physical contact between them. When it comes to producing the retail models, MSI have used a cooler that is based around the design here, but with an additional heatpipe that links booth coolers together to increase the cooling efficiency of the system as a whole.
