The MSI Immerse GH50 Gaming Headset is available right now with an MSRP of £79.99. We don’t have pricing for other regions just yet but will update these as soon as we can. That’s a pretty decent price for a headset with this level of features though, and I can see it proving to be a big hit with MSI fans and beyond.
There’s a lot to love about this headset, and only a few minor issues really, that are all quite subjective. The hard-wired cable is something I would want to see resolved with a removable one in future models. It makes the headset easier to store and maintain. Plus, the foldable design doesn’t make sense to me either. Other than that, I love the headset, and the issues here are hardly deal-breakers for me.
One of the standout features of the GH50 has to be the 40mm drivers. They’re plenty powerful and really add some punch and wow factor to movies, music and gaming. Even more so if you put the rumble drivers on, although I still think they’re better suited to lower volume usage or gaming only for higher volumes. They do work though, so that’s something. The sound is clear and detailed though, which is obviously a bonus. The inclusion of a good quality microphone is a welcome addition too, especially if you play a lot of online games; let those insults ring loud and clear!
The in-line audio controller is literally a handy tool to have. Quick muting of the microphone, easy volume adjustments, and that rumble control are great. It even has a 7.1 surround processor on there, which works really well. Virtual surround isn’t what it used to be, and it really is pretty robust here on the GH50. The detachable microphone, carry case, the RGB lighting, all welcome features too. Plus, with the Dragon Center software, you can customise a lot of that too.
The build quality of the GH50 is way above what I expected. The actual aesthetics are staggeringly good, but so too if the fit and finish. There’s a good amount of padding where it’s needed. However, there’s also strong reinforcement where it’s needed. This is all compliemented by various pivot and tilt adjustments that ensure a clean and comfortable fit around your head and ears. For long gaming sessions, I’d say comfort is more important than sound quality; fortunately the GH50 does a great job of both.
Powerful audio, easy to use in-line controls are a welcome match for the stylish and durable build quality. One of the best gaming headset for the price, and one that I would gladly call my own. If MSI come back with a dual 3.5mm/USB model with detachable cables though, I’d happily pay the extra.
