MSI has released another AM4 Ryzen compatible motherboard to their line up, this time it is the ATX-sized B350 Gaming Plus. The motherboard is decked out in black with red accents applied through an interesting PCB printing technique. It uses a Realtek 8111H Gigabit LAN controller as well as a Realtek ALC892 for the HD audio which has been isolated from the rest of the PCB and uses specialized Japanese Nippon Chemicon audio capacitors for filtering.
Since it is a B350 chipset, it is not capable of bifurcating the PCIe x16 slot for graphics nor does it support NVIDIA SLI, but it does support AMD Crossfire on its secondary PCIe x4 slot which. The primary PCIe x16 slot is also outfitted with MSI’s reinforcement steel armor for added protection.
The MSI B350 Gaming Plus has a modest 4+2 phase design which should be ok for some AMD Ryzen overclocking as the chipset allows for adjusting both AMD Ryzen CPU and DDR4 memory clock speeds. In terms of storage, there is an M.2 slot that supports up to 22110 form factors and runs up to PCIe x4 devices with a Ryzen CPU, PCIe x2 devices with the upcoming AMD AM4 APUs, as well as SATA M.2 devices. There are also 4x SATA 6G ports, 8 x USB 3.1 Gen1 (7 x Type-A, 1 x Type-C) and 6 x USB 2.0 ports. If an AM4 APU is installed, it can utilize the embedded graphics through a VGA port, a DVI port and an HDMI port.
