Now that Intel has released its new Optane modules, it’s time for system builders and component manufacturers to include it with their products. As such, MSI announced three new motherboards that come bundled with an Intel Optane 16GB drive. The three new motherboards are the Z270 TOMAHAWK OPT BOOST, B250M BAZOOKA OPT BOOST, and the B250M PRO OPT BOOST.
These new models feature a 16GB Intel Optane Memory model pre-installed, ready to boost hard drive performance to new heights, up to 14x faster. You can install all the latest games on a regular hard drive and enjoy near SSD performance without having to worry about running out of SSD disk space. At least in theory.
If you were to build a new system with such a module, then why not get a board where it’s included. After all, it’s an added value of about $50 that you get for free with the new OPT BOOST motherboards from MSI.
Otherwise, the motherboards are the same as the ones without the bundled Optane module. You get the latest features such as Lighting ASmedia 2142 USB 3.1 Gen2 controller, Twin Turbo M.2 slots, and Intel-based LAN connections. X-Boost for SSD optimisation, VR Ready that sets all key components for a smooth VR experience in a single click, and the Optane Genie are also part of the MSI package.
