Mainboard and graphics card manufacturer MSI has been busy releasing several gaming monitors recently. Their latest however is the result of the long standing partnership between the company and SteelSeries. It is the new Optix MPG curved monitor line featuring integration with the SteelSeries Engine. Using five RGB zones on the front of the monitor, gamers can customize lighting effects in the SteelSeries Engine for in-game notification. This includes notifications for timers, stats, cooldowns or Discord messages.
“The integration of SteelSeries Engine with the Optix MPG Series Curved Gaming Monitors brings PrismSync Illumination and real-time game alerts which offer an even greater level of immersive gameplay” according to MSI President Joseph Hsu.
The two new models in the MPG line use 27-inch VA LED panels. The Optix MPG27C uses a curved 1080p screen, while the Optix MPG27CQ uses a curved 1440p WQHD screen. Both have a 1800R curvature and have a 144Hz refresh rate with a 1ms response time. This makes them perfect for an immersive and smooth gaming experience.
Other than the native resolution, both monitor differ in brightness. The Optix MPG27C has 250 nits, while the Optix MPG27CQ has 400 nits brightness rating.
In terms of connectivity, the MPG27C has a pair of HDMI 1.4, one DP 1.2, one earphone, one microphone, two USB 2.0 Type-A and one USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type B available. The MPG27CQ on the other hand has a pair of HDMI 2.0 ports, one DP 1.2, one earphone, one microphone, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type A ports, and one USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type B.
MSI did not reveal any pricing information as of yet.
