MSI has introduced the fifth X370 chipset motherboard to their lineup called the X370 Gaming Pro, not to be confused with the X370 Gaming Pro Carbon which is decked out in RGB LED features. In addition to these X370 Gaming Pro Carbon and Non-Carbon boards, MSI also has the X370 Titanium and SLI PLUS to round out the line up. The new non-carbon X370 Gaming Pro is a more affordable version of the Gaming Pro Carbon, shedding some features including the RGB LED lighting, as well as the shaving of the price.
While it looks similar in terms of design and layout as the Gaming Pro Carbon version, the X370 Gaming Pro instead uses all red LEDs which lights the four back corners of the board so that it creates a sort of red halo when installing inside a case. It still has an RGB LED header however for users who want to plug in a multi-colored RGB LED strip and control it via MSI’s Mystic Light Software app.
MSI also took away the extra 2280 M.2 slot although the X370 Gaming Pro still has a 22110 M.2 with a heatshield. It has six SATA 6G ports and 8 USB 3.1 ports, one of which is a Type-C reversible at the rear IO area. The Gigabit ethernet controller has also been swapped for a Realtek RTL8111H instead of an Intel I211AT controller in the Carbon version.
