MSI has launched a new Night Elf mATX motherboard with the main feature being backlight. However, the somewhat sad news is that it will only be available in China.
The LED backlight feature is called “Wisps of light” and can be switched on and off through the BIOS. The motherboard only uses a B85 chipset as the name already suggests, but the Night Elf still comes with some great features otherwise only found on bigger boards like the Qualcomm Atheros Killer E2200 LAN controller as well as an EMI Shield design.
It has six SATA3 ports, four DDR3 DIMM slots, one PCIe x16 and two PCIe x1 slots as well as plenty of headers for everything. It also features the OC Genie 4 for easy overclocking. The external IO connectivity isn’t anything special but is has what you need: Two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports, PS2 for keyboard and mouse, Gigabit LAN, D-Sub and DVI connectors as well as 7.1 surround sound.
The MSI B85M Night Elf looks pretty cool backlit and could make for some beautiful builds for those lucky enough to be able to get it, AKA everyone in China.
