MSI Launches Cubi 3 Silent and Cubi 3 Silent S Mini-PCs

MSI is announcing two new additions to their mini desktop series: Cubi 3 Silent and Cubi 3 Silent S. As the name implies, these are compact quiet units because they are fanless. For that to happen, it uses highly efficient parts of course. Inside is an Intel Kaby Lake-U processor supporting up to 32GB (2 slots) of DDR4 2133MHz memory. That processor also has Intel HD 600 integrated graphics which supports simultaneous dual output via HDMI and DisplayPort.
The aluminium enclosure itself acts as a heatsink actually. Measuring 159.6 x 69.5 x 110.2 mm, it has a thick piece of aluminium at the top, able to catch ambient air and provides surface area for heat dissipation. The aluminium construction is also of high quality so the internals get more than sufficient protection. Moreover, it looks quite elegant as well, available in either silver or black brushed aluminium.
Servicing and upgrading the Cubi 3 Silent series is convenient as well, easily accessible via four screws at the bottom. Users can upgrade or swap out the memory modules, or add-on/replace storage. There is room for a single M.2 as well as a single 2.5-inch SATA SSD. The M.2 slot supports both SATA and PCIe devices.
There is also no shortage in terms of connectivity, with 2x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A at the front, 2x USB 2.0 at the side (Silent S only), and 2x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A at the rear. The Cubi 3 Silent S also has additional COM ports and RJ45 ports at the rear.
